We are saddened to share the passing of Wilbert Mepham Edgar, the last surviving grandchild of W.C. Mepham, on November 3, 2024. W.C. Mepham, the first school superintendent in the district, lent his name to our beloved high school, a lasting tribute to his legacy in education and community leadership.
Mepham High School opened its doors in 1937 and became a cornerstone of the community. The school’s iconic design was crafted by Frederic P. Wiedersum Associates, an architectural firm based in Valley Stream, New York.
As we reflect on the contributions of the Mepham family and our school’s enduring legacy, we honor Wilbert Mepham Edgar’s connection to this history and extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
